My approach.

Family-Centered.

Your family belongs at the center of the plan of care. Each treatment plan is unique because each family has their own values, rhythms, and goals. So that’s where I start. My goal is to support you and ultimately, ensure that mealtimes are enjoyable, efficient, and safe for your child. The same is true for speech/language support—I want it to feel like it fits you and that you can continue implementing strategies long after we have finished therapy.

Nueroaffirming.

I believe in a neuroaffirming care model that validates and supports the individual's neurodivergent experiences and identity. Neuroaffirming care involves shifting away from expectations and standards based solely on neurotypical perspectives, which often overlook the diverse needs of neurodivergent individuals.

Evidence-Based.

I value integrating relevant and high-quality research evidence with my clinical expertise. I think when we understand the why behind what we’re doing, making changes comes a bit easier. And, research-backed approaches work. I place a strong emphasis on play-based and child-led approaches, and principles of motor learning and neuroplasticity—with the focus of intervention being on functional outcomes.

Collaborative.

I have a medical background, and I’ve seen firsthand how valuable a team approach to care is. There are often many pieces to the puzzle when it comes to feeding challenges or language delays, and that is why I may encourage consultation with other specialists in a related field. Some of these specialists may include (but are not limited to): IBCLCs, ENTs, GI & Nutrition, developmental pediatricians, neuropsychologists, and mental health professionals.

Compassionate.

It’s important to me that you feel safe and heard when we work together. I value ensuring that you feel like you are in control of your body and/or your children’s bodies throughout the entire process. I utilize a child-led, responsive approach when it comes to feeding intervention. I also realize the impact that trauma can have on all areas of our lives, and if that is part of your story, I value taking that into consideration as we make a plan tailored to your needs.
